Can I Tell Google about Links to my Site?

Wondering if there was a way that you could inform Google about the links that you’ve created for your website? Wouldn’t it be great if you could just indicate the backlinks that you want the search engine to recognize right off the bat?

Unfortunately as Matt Cutts explains in the video shown above, that’s just not the way it works. There is no specific way to completely and directly indicate what back links a particular website has. Although you can very well forward the URLs concerned to the search engine via http://www.google.com/addurl. The search engine prefers to discover the SEO links themselves through normal crawling algorithms. After all, if you have to point Google to the right direction just to see your links, you have to wonder if you search engine optimisation strategy is really effective at all.

Why does Google prefer to find your links all on its own?

Indeed Google prefers discovering links to websites all on its own simply because the links that they naturally uncover this way are typically of the higher quality in the first place. If it appears that the search engine is having a hard time discovering your backlinks then you better check on your overall SEO strategy. Do you have a sitemap for better indexing and site navigation? Are your back links from relevant and high ranking websites? These are but a few things that one has to consider and think about.
