Does Google Consider SEO to be Spam?

Is SEO spam in the eyes of Google?

Among the most significant misconceptions people often have about SEO is the belief that Google sees such a process as spam. After all, the search engine seems intent to make the lives of people in the search engine marketing business more and more difficult with each algorithm update? Is this really the case though?

SEO is not spam – Google

As explained in the web master video above, the search engine certainly doesn’t see search engine optimisation as a spam attempt. In which case the whole idea of search engine marketing might as well be regarded as such!

SEO is essentially a process wherein one can ensure that their websites are well represented on search results for relevant keywords or search phrases. When done the right way, it can prove to be quite the opposite and benefit search engines and users alike. Think about it – some of the best practices in SEO such as quality content, link building and user-friendly easily navigable web design/architecture helps Google return the best results while providing great user experience.

Of course as a process there are those who end up going about it the wrong way through black hat search engine optimisation practices like cloaking, spamming, hacking and sneaky redirects. However SEO in general is certainly not perceived as spam by the search engines as explained in the video above as they hope to dispel such a misconception.
