Do you have a lot of domain names and thinking about linking them all together? How does Google perceive such a practice and does the search engine even allow it as an SEO strategy? If you do own multiple domain names then you’ve likely thought about doing it at some point. After all, if Google perceives links as a vote of confidence when rewarding page rank and you have a lot of domain names under your control, why the heck not?

Is it really a good idea to link multiple domain names?

As explained by Matt in the video shown above, it depends on what your intentions are. If the reason you are linking 20 or so domain names together is to simply pass page rank from one website to another, then don’t. It’s a violation of Google’s policies and you can be certain that the search engine have algorithms to keep track of such website behavior. Attempting to manipulate search rankings by linking domain names isn’t going to get you anywhere.

On the other hand, there are viable and perfectly good reasons for webmasters to link their domain names together. For instance, some webmasters may have a top level domain and has purchased additional domain names to present different versions of their website in different languages. In this case, linking multiple domain names is a perfectly reasonable thing to do and you can expect no qualms from the search engine there.
