Striking a Balance between SEO and Readability

The Fine Balance in SEO

SEO – There’s an old saying that goes, “too much of a good thing is a bad thing”. Life is a balancing act and the same thing can actually be said about search engine optimization. Writing quality articles about one’s niche and marketing is no different in that there are various situations that demands fine balance. Among the most challenging aspects of running an article marketing campaign is the balance between search engine optimization and readability or value to readers. Both are just as important as the other and the aim here is to satisfy the constantly changing and complex algorithms being used by major search engines while at the same time, putting out with useful, natural-sounding and engaging article content.

The key to balancing SEO is to not even try

Now “to not even try” actually sounds way too simple but a good way to get a grasp on the matter is to determine the things that you may be doing wrong when it comes to SEO. For one thing, many people in internet marketing business tend to “stuffing” their web content (articles) with too much keywords that they sacrifice quality in an effort to stand out more in the eyes of major search engines. This is without a doubt one of the biggest mistake one can make in web marketing. An uninteresting article that barely makes sense as it is stuffed with too many keywords makes you appear less credible in the eyes of your readers and potential customers. In the same way, using too few keywords for your articles in web marketing defeats its effectiveness because search engines are unable to find or index it.  No matter how good your articles are, it’s not going to do you any good if people can’t even find it online.

Now again, the key is to strike a fine balance between the two which is easier said than done. If you are having difficulty finding such a balance in your SEO efforts then there are certainly a couple of things that you can look into:

  • Integrate your chosen keywords in creating your title
  • Create your articles in your own words with no intention of ramping up the density of your keywords – just write
  • To ensure that your keywords aren’t too low, make sure that you maintain a keyword density of at least 1 percent for your articles in online marketing
  • Proof-read the quality and readability of your articles for search engine optimization prior to submitting it. If you personally found it to be unnatural and uninteresting then chances are that your readers will too. Never sacrifice quality and readability for SEO
